Benchmark Furniture

Benchmark is a design led manufacturer of bespoke furniture and specialist woodworking and metalwork. Combining traditional quality with modern technology and a commitment to sustainability, it has a proven track record in the design, manufacture and installation of furniture for offices, public institutions, hotels, bars, restaurants and private homes as well as complex architectural joinery.

Benchmark also sells a range of contemporary handmade furniture for domestic use. The designs are exclusive to Benchmark and have been developed with well-known designers including Terence Conran, Kay+Stemmer, Thomas Heatherwick and Russell Pinch. All the pieces are made in workshops in Kintbury, Berkshire and sold direct to the public from an adjacent showroom.

The Design Museum

The Design Museum is supported by the Conran Foundation, an educational charity set up by a donation from Sir Terence Conran in 1980. It is one of the world’s leading museums devoted to contemporary design in every form from furniture to graphics, architecture to industrial design. It attracts more than 200,000 people a year through its doors, has a vibrant schools programme, a strong critical reputation and a commitment to academic excellence.

Content by Conran is a range of thoughtfully designed, contemporary, affordable furniture that is comfortable, simple and uses natural, authentic materials that look better and better over time. Its curved and shapely forms create a relaxed look in any setting.

The collection focuses on excellent craftsmanship, encompassing traditional details and uses high quality fabrics and carefully sewn leathers that give pleasure for years to come.

The range has pieces for living and dining rooms including sofas, occasional chairs, dining tables and chairs, coffee tables, cabinets, storage and shelving.


Lutyens Restaurant, Bar and Cellar Rooms is located in the former Reuters building on Fleet Street and is named after its architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens, with the design led by Terence Conran and Conran & Partners.

Lutyens features a includes a large bar on Fleet Street with a charcuterie counter, 130 seat restaurant, crustacea and sushi bar, members club and 4 private dining and meeting rooms.


A new venture between Terence and Vicki Conran in partnership with Peter Prescott, Boundary is located in a converted Victorian warehouse in Shoreditch and designed by Conran & Partners, offering three restaurants and bars, a unique hotel with 17 guest bedrooms, cafe, bakery and food store.

Tucked away in the basement, Boundary Restaurant and Bar serves a menu based on classic French recipes and English ingredients, with a large selection of crustacea. Dining tables laid with fine white linen, silver cutlery and tableware from Terence Conran’s Monno range are surrounded by chairs that have been sumptuously upholstered in deep red and indigo velvet.  All furniture for the restaurant was designed by Terence and made by sister-company Benchmark.

Located on the ground floor of the Boundary Project is Albion caff, bakery and food shop which sells British food and drink. Its menu is based on typical British café food;  straightforward hearty ingredients and recipes, from breakfast served throughout the day, to fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, kedgeree and sandwiches.

The Boundary has 17 rooms, each as individual as the designers who inspired them, from Le Corbusier to Heath Robinson; they all have a different atmosphere, furnishings and details and include four suites by Terence Conran, Victoria Conran, Priscilla Carluccio and Polly Dickens, Creative Director of the Conran Shop.
